Empowerment House – Men’s Phase One

Empowerment House Men’s Transitional House

Welcome to Empowerment House – Men’s Phase One

our sober living home

Location: Quincy and Buckley, Aurora

I’d like to welcome you to Empowerment House! As one of the original homes of Aurora Sober Living, those of us who are lucky enough to call it “home” know how blessed we are. We appreciate the opportunities we’ve been given and fully embrace the responsibility that comes with living here.

Though our house is composed of men, both young and old, we come together with the sole purpose of building and providing a safe and comfortable haven for anyone beginning their recovery journey. Whether it’s one of the younger men experiencing sober living for the first time, or an older “veteran” on his 2nd or 3rd attempt, we all commit to the meaning of community and the spirit of brotherhood.

In Phase One, we walk side by side through structured programming, peer coaching, groups, and accountability. Many of us were taught not to show weakness or ask for help — but in Empowerment House, we break that cycle. We remind each other that it’s not weakness to lean on your brothers, but strength.

Life in Empowerment House feels like family. We share ideas, make meals, laugh, and even argue over sporting events — because that’s what brothers do. We hold each other accountable, support each other through struggles, and celebrate each other’s wins. With a 9 PM curfew, daily routines, and mandatory participation, Phase One provides the structure and stability needed to build a strong foundation.

The world can feel lonely, but here in Empowerment House, you’re never alone. You have a safe place, you have brothers, and you have the structure of Phase One to help you grow into the next chapter of recovery.
